MIL-STD-454 "Standard General Requirements for Electronic Equipment" and MIL-HDBK-454 "General Guidelines for Electronic Equipment"

A widely used reference for practical guidelines for safety aspects of electronic equipment.

MIL-STD-454N was released on 30th June 1992 before being cancelled by notice 4 on 4th May 1995 with the announcement of the release of MIL-HDBK-454 on 28th April 1995 before itself being superseded by MIL-HDBK-454A on 3rd November 2000.

The MIL-HDBK-454 issues (which cannot be cited as requirements due to its status as a military handbook rather than military standard) and MIL-STD-454 issues provide guidance and requirements respectively on a wide range of electronic products and processes, covering aspects as diverse as flammability, grounding, and workmanship.

They also provides good examples of vulnerability analysis, relating electrical current levels to probable effects on the human body.
