Course: "Applying AS 61508"

Training on safety engineering and safety management within the context of AS 61508

This half day course provides an introduction to safety engineering and safety management within the context of AS 61508 in its various incarnations including NZS 61508 and IEC 61508.

This course is not intended to provide a comprehensive introduction to system safety, but can be taken in conjunction with "Safe Systems: Procure, Analyse, Develop, Operate" to provide this.

The course "Applying AS 61508" covers the safety life cycle and requirements presented in Part 1 of AS 61508. It particularly focusses on Phases 4 and 5 of AS 61508 which cover the definition and allocation of safety requirements and the generation of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). Although it addresses Parts 2 and 3 (realisation of hardware and software respectively) of AS 61508, it does not cover these in detail.
